CPA Exam Review
For most CPA candidates, the CPA exam is daunting. Often, it is put off until they feel like they need it to progress in their career. The CPA exam is very time consuming to prepare for and given the pass/fail rate, can be a very frustrating process. So, what DO CPA candidates do once they have decided to give it a go?
Well, first, they have to start a CPA exam review. Some CPA candidates are taking the CPA exam soon after finishing their school credits. Most however, wait until they are in the work force and have the necessary work experience (work experience is one of the criteria’s in taking the exam anyway.) Even for those candidates that take accounting classes and take the CPA exam soon after, a CPA exam review course of some sort is necessary.
So- Where Do You Start?
CPA Exam review courses can be found anywhere online. There are more than enough to choose from, so availability is not the issue. Most CPA candidates however, are confused at which one to choose. Each CPA candidate has a unique situation that will determine what and how they study. Some candidates study full time and try to knock out the tests as fast as is possible. Most don’t have the luxury of not working while preparing for the exam. The cost of the CPA exam alone (and prep materials) is quite expensive, so work is usually a must during prep time.
Each company offers many different CPA exam review courses. Some of the most notable programs are Wiley, Yeager, Becker, Gleim, and Roger. That is not a complete list of all programs out there, but those are the most notable educational institutions in the CPA field.
Most programs offer different programs for different learners. Some programs are live, with live instructors. These CPA Exam review’s are great for those that thrive in a classroom environment with feedback from instructors and other peers. Online tutorials or classes are also great for the audio or visual learner. There are also self study CPA exam review programs that allow you as the student to study the materials at your own pace and your own convenience.
It is definitely recommended that after you choose a CPA exam review course, that you also choose a supplemental study guide. There are only a few offered out there, but these study guides are very useful in guiding you through the study process.
