CPA Exam (California)
The CPA exam (California) is the computer-based Uniform CPA exam that is given in 54 jurisdictions. This is the same exam all over the United States and US territories (including Guam, Virgin Islands, DC, and Puerto Rico).
The CPA exam (California) fees are as follows:
- Initial Application Fee $100.00
- Reapplication Fee $50.00
This is paid to the California Board of Accountancy.
The NASBA fees are as follows:
- AUD (Auditing and Attestation) $207.15
- Financial Accounting and Reporting $207.15
- Regulation $185.10
- Business Environment and Concepts $185.10
The CPA Exam (California) is the same exam that is given in other states. There are 4 sections that are tested. Each section must be passed with a 75 or higher in a rolling 18 month period. You may take all four sections at one time, although it is highly recommended that you take each section separately. This allows for the appropriate amount of study time and focus to go into passing each of the four sections. Candidates are not allowed to sit for a failed section within the same testing window. During each testing window, the CPA exam is available for approximately 60 days. The sections of the CPA exam (California) may be taken in any sequence.
The four sections of the CPA Exam (California) are:
Auditing (AUD) – this is a 4 hour exam
Business Environment and Concepts (BEC) –this is a 3 hour exam
Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) – this is a 4 hour exam
Regulation (REG) – this is a 3 hour exam
You can apply for the CPA exam (California) if you meet all of the educational requirements. You may apply online at www.dca.ca.gov or you may also mail in a paper application, upon request. There are no deadlines to apply as long as you meet your educational requirements, you may apply to sit for the CPA exam (California) anytime.
